MARTY SUPREME
One of the most hotly anticipated films of the Summer, the latest collaboration from powerhouse studio A24 and director Josh Safdie (Uncut Gems, Good Time) is an epic sports drama following Marty Mauser (Timothee Chalamet), a young ping pong prodigy and his relentless quest to prove himself as the best table tennis player in the world.
Inspired by real-life pro table tennis legend Marty Reisman, – known as ‘the Needle’ for his lithe build and ‘hardbat’ style of play – the film is set in 1950s New York City and features an all-star cast with Oscar-nominee Timothee Chalamet in the lead role, alongside Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow in her first substantial film role since 2019.
“A melt-the-screen-down-to-gold performance. With the steamroller audacity of his character, Chalamet has staked a massively confident claim for his first Oscar. If you must gamble, lay it all on Chalamet. Now.” – London Evening Standard
“Following every dizzying spin of Chalamet’s table tennis hustler, Josh Safdie’s whip-crack comedy serves sensational shots – and a smart return by Gwyneth Paltrow.” – The Guardian
